General Notary Services in DFW
Acknowledgments, jurats, oaths and affirmations for everyday documents.
What this service covers
Most documents that need a notary need one of a few acts: an acknowledgment, a jurat, or an oath or affirmation. Notable Notary verifies your identity, watches you sign or swear where the law requires it, completes the notarial certificate and records the act in the notary journal.
A notary public is not an attorney and cannot give legal advice, choose a certificate for you or prepare your document.
- Acknowledgments for deeds, contracts and letters
- Jurats for sworn written statements
- Oaths and affirmations
- Signature witnessing where a notarial certificate is required
- Documents in English or with an English certificate attached

How it works
-
Tell me the document
Share the document type and how many signers when you book, so I bring the right certificate wording.
-
Identity check
Each signer shows ID. I compare it to the person in front of me and to the name on the document.
-
Sign and certify
You sign in front of me where required, then I complete the certificate, sign and apply my seal.
-
Journal entry
The act is recorded in my notary journal, which protects you if the document is ever questioned.
Common questions
All questions What is the difference between an acknowledgment and a jurat?
An acknowledgment confirms that you are who you say you are and that you signed willingly. A jurat adds an oath: you swear or affirm that the contents of the document are true. The office receiving the document usually decides which one it needs.
Can I sign the document before the appointment?
For a jurat you must sign in front of the notary. For an acknowledgment it is safest to wait as well. Bring the document unsigned unless you have been told otherwise.
Can you notarize a document for a family member?
A notary should not notarize a document in which they have a personal or financial interest. If the document involves my own family, I will refer you to another notary.
